New York is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around New York is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

A complete waste of $550 and the time I took off from work. This was an extremely basic consultation that could have been screened with a short phone call before taking my money. Dr. Tanenbaum spoke with me for about ten to fifteen minutes in one room, then moved me into another room and went over essentially the same information while typing it into the computer. He asked whether I could move my jaw up and down and whether I could eat. Because the answer was yes, he considered me functional and looked at me as though there was nothing else to evaluate. That is not what I consider a $550 evaluation. The office also told me I would need X rays and a CBCT scan. I brought my own recent imaging, yet it was never reviewed or even discussed with me. I explained that my tongue does not have enough space, my bite feels wrong on the right side, my jaw feels stressed and tight throughout the day, and my mouth feels unnatural while speaking and even at rest. He did not perform any structured testing involving my speech, lips, tongue, teeth, or jaw movement. He did not watch me eat or meaningfully evaluate my bite. My actual concerns were barely explored. During the appointment, he told me

Absolutely love this office and Dr. Tannenbaum. I have seen a million doctors, and he is the only one who helped my pain. Cindy and the rest of the team is also amazing. They are very accommodating with scheduling and extremely efficient. They are also very knowledgeable with any insurance question. I would travel miles just to go to this office. I trust Dr. T and the team, and 100% recommend. This was the best decision I made and will continue to see Dr.T.

Dr. Tanenbaum and Dr. Werfel have been absolutely wonderful! They are both professional, patient and compassionate. I have been struggling for years with what I consider to be TMJ-On-Steroids along with other chronic bite and jaw placement issues. Within just 1 month - literally - of using this mouth device the doctors crafted specifically for me - I felt almost immediate relief. My bite placement and my facial shape have improved drastically with the aid of this new device as well. The improvement has been shockingly fast and only keeps getting better with time. I'm absolutely thrilled and it's been a great investment. My only regret is not having started sooner - because it would have spared me years of jaw issues. You'll be in the most capable hands with any orofacial related issues there. As a final note - the entire staff @ the NY TMJ + Orofacial Pain office has been great too!

I recently saw Dr. Tanenbaum, and I would highly recommend him. I’ve been suffering from TMJ for almost a year, and it has severely impacted my quality of life. I’ve done a ton of research, and the info on TMJ is so disheartening: there are very few reliable, scientifically-proven treatments; treatments are expensive and largely uncovered by insurance; the field seems to be overrun with unqualified money-grabbers claiming to be experts. Finding someone who is competent AND trustworthy seems to be difficult to do. Dr. Tanenbaum seems to be both. I had seen two previous local dentists who claimed to be TMJ experts: one performed an “adequate” oral examination and tried to sell me a $5,500 nightguard; the other performed the most perfunctory examination possible and suggested that Invisalign would solve all my issues. These seemed to be sales pitches rather than medical help. In contrast, Dr. Tanenbaum performed a VERY thorough oral examination and took an extensive history (he listened to the entirety of my complex medical issues). I was surprised that he didn’t order any imaging tests, given the discomfort I was in and the length of time I’d had the TMJ. His office had prepar

I do not recommend seeing Dr. Tanenbaum. I saw him for over two years and in that time my symptoms got exponentially worse. All he truly cares about is recommending expensive treatment after treatment and when things aren't working he blames you and your emotions (extremely mysogonistic) and is quite cold, but when things are better he's all smiles. I did botox and trigger point injections which created extreme face and neck nerve pain (and i know that there can be complications with that but he just continued recommending more intense treatments). My mouth guard was so thick that it created an open bite and he gaslit me for months saying it was in my head. I even had a crown crack and removed because of the uneven bite (I am now missing a tooth). Finally when there was no convincing me anymore that the misaligned bite was in my head, he had just stayed silent and recommended an aggressive treatment to fix it. He would forget key details of my treatment history constantly and not compare new scans to old ones. I left him and went to another doctor who told me i had a complete open bite in the front and left side of my mouth and was in shock. and within months my bite went back to a

I can’t recommend Dr. Tanenbaum highly enough. I came to him after years of experiencing chronic TMJ pain that was debilitating and significantly impacting my day to day quality of life. I had limited mobility and it was painful to eat. Through various interventions including a new appliance, injections, and coordination of care with other providers, he got me to a different, stable place where I don’t experience daily pain and am able to eat normally. He dramatically changed my daily experience and I am no longer suffering! He is knowledgeable and trustworthy and has a warm bedside manner. Very grateful for his commitment and expertise to getting me better

I think Dr. Donald Tanenbaum is the best doctor I’ve ever seen, for anything, ever. I’ve never in my life felt so seen and so heard by a doctor. I went for a relatively mild facial numbness issue, and he took me very seriously, left no detail unattended and no stone unturned. Shortly after, I got a little worse (because I aggravated my condition) and gave him a call, and he was so kind to call me back and keep me in mind even when I didn’t get to answer his call on time. The biggest advantage to Dr. Tanenbaum besides his amazing know-how, is his true positive attitude and his ability to be very reassuring to the patient. I think sometimes doctors don’t understand the power dynamic that exists between them and the patient, but from Dr. Tanenbaum’s demeanor, you can really tell that he has love and emotional intelligence associated to his work. It really seemed like he knows that when patients come see him they’re vulnerable, and he uses his information and his skill to empower you for your healing, rather than exacerbate your anxiety. I know this seems like I’m over analyzing him, but honestly from experience, I can really tell that this is a whole other tier of medical professional

Dr. Tanenbaum is a great doctor with extremely friendly and helpful staff. I went to Dr. T when I out of the blue experienced acute locked jaw. He was calm and guided me through the appropriate measures, which included going to see a great oral surgeon in the city. My jaw has made a significant amount of progress which I owe to the doctor, the mouth plate he made me, the recommendations of the oral surgeon, and my physical therapist. Dr. T is dedicated to building a comprehensive plan for recovery - couldn't recommend him enough
